Renting a room in a shared flat is the most popular form of accommodation for students who want to study, work or live in Berlin.

In a shared student-apartment a student will be living with other students, sharing a kitchen, bathroom and living room normally in a 3-5 bedroom apartment. The students who are living together will be responsible for working out their daily routines like cooking and cleaning, under no supervision.

This type of accommodation is a good way to get to know other students from other countries and to make new friends but it also requires the students to be responsible and understanding of other people's needs and customs.

Nevertheless it's important to check all conditions of the flat/room rental upfront. What about the utilities? Garbage and dishes? Who is responsible to buy toilet-paper? It might sound silly but such little things can make the living in a shared accommodation worse then living with your parents… ;-)
