Shopping in Heidelberg
The main shopping street is the traffic-free Hauptstrasse, which is filled with stores selling glass, crystal, handcrafts, and other items. Heidelberg is also known for its markets, including the one held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at Marktplatz and another held Tuesday and Friday mornings at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz. The best thing to do is explore the streets yourself when you get there either with classmates or colleague you meet during your study or internship in Heidelberg.

Parks and Sights in Heidelberg
Whilst you are in Heidelberg you should explore the city and all of its sites. The castle of Heidelberg alone is for a lot of people a reason for visiting the city. This castle, designed mostly in the Renaissance style, is considered one of the most important cultural monuments in Germany.
Castle Garden
The gardens castle is designed by the famous garden architect Salomon de Caus, he built several terraces around the castle, giving a great view on to the castle, the Old Town and even into the Rhine Valley. The garden has a very peaceful ambiance.
University Library
Here you can explore the outside sculptures and ornaments of the building, then go inside to see busts of famous scientists and the nice basement construction. There is also a ever changing exposition at the attic of the building. Again it is really worth paying a visit.
Neckarwiese
A saying goes that you if haven't sat on the banks of the River Neckar, you haven't seen Heidelberg. The Neckarwiese, or Neckar Park, is a ribbon of green which stretches along the river for several kilometres. Popular with joggers and picnickers, the park is the perfect place to relax after a hard day's sightseeing.
Heidelberg Culture
There are many streets with nostalgic houses and little boutiques. Heidelberg has numerous theatres where they play both German and English plays. Numerous cinemas play a great variety of different genres. There are a lot of art galleries, displaying both modern and classic art.
